Oatmeal

Warm,
Soothing,
Delicious.
My bowl is filled
With oats, cooked
In milk, seasoned
With cinnamon, nutmeg
A pinch of cardamom.
Prunes and walnuts
Top my breakfast
Delight. A circle of
Maple syrup rings
The top of my bowl.
In between bites I sip my
Yunan Fancy tea
With a dash of
˝ and ˝ and a
Drop of honey.
The day is cold.
The air damp,
The sky gray and
Foggy. I have slippers
On my cold feet,
A hot water bottle
On my lap, and my
Cat stares up at
Me for a bite. There is
No other breakfast
Than this on
these days.
All is right
With the world
With oatmeal in
My bowl.
